Sorry, no new comic today (Monday the 26th). I took a little time off this weekend for a quick anniversary trip. We went to the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. We toured the Normal Rockwell museum, took in a concert at Tanglewood, and basically had a great time just being a couple again. Then, after a couple hours drive, we’re back to being parents. Time to get the kids up……

Dell has been a faithful companion through three job changes, two hard drive replacements, RAM upgrades, four video cards, and two new hinges. He’s earned his rest. (although he won’t get it once my son gets a hold of him) Mac will take over from now on and help me guide OSS to new heights. Many, many, many thanks to super-reader Tatooeddad who helped me with some discounts. Now all I have to do is get everything installed, deal with some confusing activation and licensing problems, and try to remember how things work on the Mac side.

Stay Tuned.

Hi gang,

I came home from work today, turned on my ancient laptop and … nothing happened. Seems I’ve had a visit from the dread hard drive crash elf. I’m back up and running with the old hard drive I replaced almost a year ago, but I just don’t trust my hardware anymore. You may remember I’ve been talking about getting a Mac soon to replace my 7 year old Dell laptop. Well, it looks like I have to do it right soon.

OSS will now go on an official short break. I’ve been distracted the last month or so with my layoff and challenging new contract job. I was just about to start up regular production again. As Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say, “It’s always something”. I’ll use these next couple weeks to build back up and come back strong once I have a reliable piece of hardware again. In the meantime, I’m putting out a call for guest strips. All submissions will be accepted. Hell, ANY submissions will be accepted.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned.

Joe

My new overlords have been patient and kind. And I’m actually learning stuff. Which could be the problem.

I’ve been doing graphics so long it was very comfortable and easy for me. It wasn’t always great, but it was understandable and I usually knew where I stood. All this web design and development has been stressful and makes me want to cry out like a Monty Python Gumby.

They say change can be very hard but is good for you. They also say it harder for an older brain to learn new things. I wish I had my son’s teenage brain. Actually… he needs it more than I do, and it’s not really working correctly yet. Guess I’ll keep my old one.
