Today (5/11/11) marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Douglas Adams. The Guardian has a nice tribute to him here. I saw DNA once at a Macworld conference. He was there to introduce the Mac version of his game “Starship Titanic”. Unfortunately the game wasn’t ready but they did give out free beta versions. Adams also gave a little talk (of which I remember nothing) and sat to autograph flat boxes of the game which you could then fold together to hold your beta disk. I still have the game disk and (I think) the box somewhere. I remember standing in line thinking what could I say that he hadn’t heard 42,000 times before. I think I said something like “You must hear the same things all the time”. He barely looked at me. Apparently he had heard that one before.
